Man Charged in Satsuma Murder

On June 28, 2010, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office originally released information that on June 26, 2010, the deceased body of 33 year-old Zenovia King of Crescent City was located in a wooded lot at 104 Kerry Drive, in Satsuma.
A Post Mortem Examination (Autopsy) has revealed the manner of death was homicide.
The investigation has revealed that the victim was last seen on June 22, 2010, shortly after 2100 hours. He was last seen walking near Old San Mateo Road and Kerry Drive in Satsuma. It has also been determined that the homicide was the result of a robbery. Investigators with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit identified a juvenile, Demarkis Phillips, DOB: 07/28/1993, as the person responsible for the homicide of Zenovia King. It was determined that Phillips met with King with the intention of committing a robbery, and during the course of the robbery, stabbed him multiple times.
On 15 July 2010, Demarkis Phillips was interviewed at the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office. As the result of the interview, in addition to other information obtained during the investigation, Demarkis Phillips was arrested for the murder of Zenovia King.
Demarkis Phillips was arrested and turned over into the custody of the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice. He is being held without bond.
