About Denise Barstis, Chief Fiscal Officer

 Denise Barstis was born March 9, 1965 in Saratoga Springs, New York. Her father was enlisted in the military for the first few years of her life. After he was discharged, her family returned to Putnam County, where she has spent the majority of her life. She attended public schools, graduating from Interlachen High School in 1983.

 After graduating from high school, Denise enrolled in several courses at St. Johns River Community College, while also working. Denise began her career at the Putnam County Sheriff's Office in 1988. She started as a clerk in the Warrants Section. Denise was transferred to the Finance Section in 1993. In 2006, she was promoted to the position of Chief Fiscal Officer. This position also comes with the enormous responsibility of budgeting all of the monies that come in and go out of the Putnam County Sheriff's Office. Denise has been responsible for attaining flawless audits, which are conducted by an outside agency.

 Denise was married in 1988, to Glen, who she has known since high school. They have one son. She enjoys boating and fishing with her family. Denise has lived in Hollister, Florida since 1988.
