Deborah Cason was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. She moved to Putnam County in January of 1987. Deborah is married to husband David, and has one son and two granddaughters.

Deborah began employment with the Sheriff's Office in March of 1988 in the Finance Section. In January of 1989 she was appointed as Executive Secretary to Sheriff Taylor Douglas and presently serves as the Executive Assistant to Sheriff Dean Kelly. Deborah has received extensive training in Civil Process throughout her career and is responsible for overseeing the Sheriff's Office levy process and Sheriff's auctions for sale.

Deborah also serves as the Treasurer of the Sheriff's Office Member Benefit Committee. She has been a Board Member of the Putnam County Unit of the Salvation Army since 1989 and is currently a Board Member and Treasurer of the Caring Center in Palatka. Deborah is best known for her organizational skills and attention to detail as she has directed a number of retirement celebrations, member awards ceremonies and numerous other special events. She is also the driving force behind ensuring that a number of Putnam County's youth are able to attend the Florida Sheriff's Youth Ranches Summer Camp and the Salvation Army's Summer Camp Program. 

Deborah was named Administrative Employee of the Year in 1991, 1992, 2001 and 2004. She was also selected by her peers as the overall Sheriff's Office Employee of the Year in 1993.
